Request to book, approve before you confirm
Customers pick a time and send a request. You see who they are and what they need, and approve or decline before anything is confirmed. You choose which services work this way, and the rest book instantly.

Not every booking should confirm itself
Most booking systems are built for haircuts: the customer picks a free slot, and it's booked. That works when any customer can take any time. It doesn't when you need to know who someone is before you meet them.
A law firm has to check for conflicts of interest. An accountant wants to know whether the enquiry is something they take on. A consultant would rather see an introductory meeting before saying yes. Without an approval step, the choice is between an open calendar you don't control and a contact form that starts a round of emails.
How request-to-book works in Tempari
The customer requests, you decide
The customer chooses a time and fills in the booking form. They're told it's a request, and you get a notification. Approve it, and the customer gets their confirmation. Decline it, and you can say why.
Choose per service
First consultations can wait for your approval while follow-up meetings book instantly. Every service has its own setting, so you don't have to choose one rule for the whole business.
Only at short notice, if you prefer
Require approval always, or only when someone books with less notice than you set, for example less than 24 hours. Bookings made in good time then confirm on their own.
Ask what you need to know
You set the booking-form questions for each service, such as "Name of the other party" or "Company registration number". The answers are in the request when you decide.
Hold the time, or keep it open
Choose whether a request holds its time while it waits for you, or leaves it open to other customers until you approve it.
Nothing reaches the calendar before you approve
A request isn't added to your Google or Outlook calendar, and no meeting link is created, until you approve it. Declined requests leave no trace in the calendar.
Frequently asked questions
What is request-to-book?
A booking that waits for the business to approve it. The customer chooses a time as usual, but the appointment is only confirmed once you accept the request.
Can some services book instantly?
Yes. Approval is set per service, so you can require it for first meetings and let existing customers book follow-ups directly.
Does the customer know it's only a request?
Yes. After booking, the customer is told that the booking has been requested, and they hear from you again when you approve or decline it.
Can I give a reason when I decline?
Yes. You can add a reason when you decline a request, and it's included in the message to the customer.
Is the time held while the request waits?
You choose. By default, other customers can still book the time until you approve the request. Turn on holding for a service, and the time is blocked as soon as the request comes in.
Who at the business gets the request?
The staff member the request is for. If you have several branches, managers see the open requests for their branch.
